At Alexandra Court, we want to help our residents to live an active and fulfilling life. We hold quarterly residents meetings which residents and family members are encouraged to attend. During these meetings, residents discuss a wide range of issues from food to entertainment.

Alexandra Court operates a fully functioning hairdressers salon and our hairdresser Angela, visits every Monday and Tuesday although residents are free to use their own hairdresser if preferred.

Newspapers are available for delivery should a resident wish and we ensure that residents have access to television, music and films via DVDS, Netflix and ITUNES. Alexandra Court provides a weekly shopping service if required for additional items such as toiletries or alcohol; and a postal service is available.

We have regular visits from Smudge, Marilouise’s dog, who loves to snuggle up to residents for a cuddle and a biscuit. Visitors are more than welcome to bring animals in to Alexandra Court.

Our entertainers visits on a monthly basis to sing sounds from the 1930’s onwards and we also enjoy visits from a lady who specialises in Reminiscence therapy. We have Archery activities, Spiritual sessions throughout the month as well as a visiting Nail Technician and instrumentalists, who play Irish music.

We also have a specially trained fitness instructor who visits weekly. She incorporates chair exercises into her routine to the sound of music and residents always have a lot of fun when she comes. We also welcome Music For Health on a fortnightly basis who bring musical instruments and song sheets for residents to sing from.

Throughout the year we celebrate the occasions of Christmas with a meal out to a hotel in Leeds as well as hosting a Christmas party for residents, relatives and friends. On Bonfire Night we have a Fireworks display to rival Roundhay Park and munch on hot dogs and parkin. At Easter, all residents receive an Easter Egg from Alexandra Court and on birthdays we provide a cake and a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ sung by our lovely staff.

In house activities range from Dominoes, Bingo, Quizzes and during the summer months we organise trips to the local park, shopping centres or restaurants. Wifi is available throughout the building and residents have access to SKYPE and FACETIME through the use of our house IPAD.

Our local Church of England Vicar and Catholic Priest visit on alternate weeks to conduct a service for those residents that wish to worship.
