End of Life Care is a vital part of any care home’s support for its residents. Our aging population and increasing incidence of dementia means that care homes support residents with far more complex conditions and about a fifth of all UK deaths take place within care homes.
This makes it even more important that care home staff are trained to deliver excellent End of Life Care. Failure to provide a gold standard of care at the end of life is not acceptable, it causes untold distress to residents and their families and leads to inappropriate admissions to hospital.
The GSF in Care Homes Programme enables care home staff to deliver more personalised care within the care home — providing residents with a better quality of life consistent with their wishes.
End of Life Care is a subject that we are passionate about at Alexandra Court. Since 2012 we have been working towards accreditation and in August 2014 we finally achieved our goal. In 2018, we were reaccredited and Alexandra Court is now a Platinum Gold Standards Framework Home.
